“I am genuinely excited about Preservé because it is a fundamentally different concept, not just a variation on traditional breast augmentation. The implant is cradled by the natural circum-mammary ligaments, which means less invasive surgery, less disruption, and a more anatomy-respecting result.” Dr. Elisa A. Burgess, MD, FACS

Candidacy

Is Preservé Right for You?

Preservé delivers its best outcomes for specific anatomy and goals. Dr. Burgess personally reviews every candidacy assessment, because honest screening protects you and your long-term result.

You May Be a Strong Candidate If…

  • You have small, naturally shaped breasts with good skin quality
  • You want subtle to moderate volume, proportional to your frame
  • You lead an active lifestyle (yoga, Pilates, running, strength training)
  • You’ve experienced volume loss after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight change
  • You want a natural-looking result, not an obvious augmentation
  • You are a first-time augmentation patient with limited sagging (ptosis)
  • Recovery time and return to activity are priorities for your lifestyle
  • You want to minimize visible scar presence

Preservé May Not Be the Best Fit If…

  • You want a significant volume increase (multiple cup sizes)
  • You have significant breast drooping (ptosis) that requires a lift
  • You have minimal breast tissue to support subglandular positioning
  • You are seeking revision of existing implants (evaluated case by case)
  • Your anatomy is better suited to sub-muscular implant placement
Dr. Burgess screens every patient with honesty, not sales pressure. If Preservé isn’t the right fit for your anatomy, she will tell you and recommend what is. The goal is a result you’ll love for years, not a surgery you’ll need to revise.

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions patients bring most often to their first conversation, answered directly.

Most patients find the total investment falls in the range of $12,000–$14,000+, though your final cost depends on your specific anatomy and what your surgical plan requires — every case is different. An itemized quote is provided after your consultation, before you make any commitment. Financing options are available.
Traditional augmentation typically involves cutting the pectoral muscle and mechanical pocket creation. Preservé uses a balloon-assisted system to gently expand the natural tissue space above the muscle: no muscle cutting, a smaller incision, and less disruption to anatomy. Dr. Burgess describes it as an entirely different concept, not a variation on traditional technique.
Because no muscle is cut, many Preservé patients report a lighter recovery than with traditional sub-muscular augmentation: less muscular pain and a faster return to light daily activity. Individual recovery experiences vary significantly. Dr. Burgess provides a realistic, personalized recovery timeline at consultation.
Changes in nipple or breast sensation are a known risk of any breast augmentation procedure, including Preservé. The tissue-preserving approach is designed to minimize nerve disruption, but temporary or permanent sensation changes can occur. This risk is discussed in full at your consultation.
Preservé’s Insertion Sleeve allows for a smaller incision placed as discreetly as your anatomy allows. Individual scarring depends on skin type, genetics, healing, and aftercare compliance. Dr. Burgess discusses typical incision placement and provides a scar care protocol for all patients.
Breastfeeding after augmentation depends on incision placement, glandular tissue involvement, and individual anatomy. Most approaches preserve the majority of mammary gland tissue, and many women breastfeed successfully after surgery. Your specific situation and plans will be discussed honestly at consultation.
Yes. Implants can partially obstruct standard mammogram views. Always inform your imaging facility that you have implants. Additional implant-displacement views are routinely available to ensure complete breast tissue screening. This does not prevent effective breast cancer screening.
BII refers to a range of systemic symptoms some patients attribute to their implants, including fatigue, joint pain, and brain fog. BII is a real concern and active research is ongoing. We take these concerns seriously and discuss them at every consultation, including what is known, what is not, and how implant surface type may be relevant.
Fat transfer uses your own tissue, which many patients prefer conceptually, but it requires adequate donor fat, volume retention can be unpredictable, and significant size increase is difficult to achieve. Preservé offers more predictable shape and volume. Neither is universally superior. The right choice depends on your anatomy, goals, and risk tolerance. Dr. Burgess discusses both options honestly.
If you have significant breast drooping (ptosis), a lift may be recommended with or without implants. Preservé is not well-suited for patients requiring a lift, as subglandular placement requires adequate tissue support and minimal ptosis. Dr. Burgess assesses ptosis, nipple position, and tissue quality at candidacy review to recommend the right approach.
